Foraging for Wild Foods and Herbal Medicine 🌱: A Journey Through Nature's Blessings 🌳



The ultimate aim of this workshop is to inspire everyone to connect with nature and ground, tappinng and gaining long lost wisdom and knowledge, deeply rooted in our DNA, to help us surive and thrive in current times. 🍄

This hands-on workshop will guide participants through the fundamentals of foraging and herbal medicine, offering a deeper understanding of wild plants, their uses, and the connection between nature and wellbeing. Participants will gain confidence in identifying key plants, learning about their medicinal properties, and understanding how to interact with nature responsibly.


🌿Introduction to Foraging Etiquette and Principles


🌹Respecting Nature: Understanding the importance of sustainable foraging and the ethical guidelines to follow when harvesting wild plants.

🌹Foraging Mindset: How to approach foraging with mindfulness, leaving enough for wildlife and future growth.

🌹Safety: How to forage safely, identifying what is edible and what is not, as well as common poisonous plants.


Foraging Rules and Local Laws

🍃Legal Considerations: Understanding the legal regulations around foraging in different areas, including protected species, private property, and public lands.

🍃Environmental Impact: Emphasizing the need to minimise environmental damage while foraging.


Introduction to Herbal Medicine


🌻Basic Principles: An introduction to how plants have been used for medicinal purposes throughout history.

🌻Common Medicinal Plants: A brief overview of some key plants often used in herbal remedies (e.g., chamomile, nettle, dandelion, and elderflower).

🌻Preparation Methods: Understanding the different ways herbs are used in medicine, from teas and tinctures to poultices and oils.


Identifying Key Characteristics of Plants

🌹Plant Identification: A guide to the key characteristics of plants to help with identification, such as leaf shape, flower structure, and scent.

🌹Field Guide Tips: How to use a field guide effectively and make notes of the plants you find.

🌹Hands-on Identification: Participants will have the opportunity to practice identifying plants found during the walk.


Folklore and Energetics of Plants

🌿Cultural Stories and Traditions: Exploring the folklore and myths surrounding common foraged plants. Learn how plants have been used for spiritual and ritual purposes throughout history.

🌿Energetics of Plants: An introduction to the concept of plant energetics—how plants can support balance in the body, mind, and spirit (e.g., cooling, warming, grounding).


🍃Materials Included:

  • Handouts with plant identification guides will be sent within 7 days after the workshop
  • A list of recommended foraging books and online resources will be mentioned on the day
  • A cup of native herbal tea at the beginning of the workshop

This workshop provides a rich, immersive experience for anyone interested in connecting more deeply with nature and exploring the world of wild plants and herbal remedies.


The sessions are mainly designed for beginners however there is always something new to learn for the more afvanced foragers.
