Early Spring Bird and Nature Walk, Long Pond

About Julia and Tinie: Tinie and Julia are trained as nature guides for Winchester Trails, a group that gives nature walks in the Fells for Winchester school children.

About the Walk: Join us as we explore the trails around Long Pond, looking for the first signs of spring.

We’ll keep an eye out for early migrant birds such as phoebes, ruby-crowned kinglets, and hermit thrushes, as well as resident nuthatches, brown creepers, and many more. We’ll look for evidence that plants are emerging from winter dormancy. We’ll also observe various habitats along the trail, such as vernal pools.

Meet us at the Hillcrest Parkway entrance to the Long Pond nature trail, opposite 100 Hillcrest Parkway in Winchester.

Please bring binoculars if you have them.

Steady rain, stormy wind, or heavy snow cancels. Rain date is March 23.
