April 15: Presentation 6p - 7:30pm at the Talent Community Center
Join Rachel Werling for an engaging presentation exploring the fascinating world of Oregon’s earliest and latest blooming wildflowers. From resilient species that brave the chill of late winter to those that extend the color of summer well into fall, we’ll consider the adaptations, habitats, and ecological roles of these seasonal bloomers. We'll also discuss choosing native plants for your garden to provide nectar and habitat for pollinators and other beneficial insects throughout the seasons.
Whether you're a botanist, gardener, or nature enthusiast, one or both of these workshops will provide insights into these floral beauties —and help you learn how to bring their ecological benefits into your own backyard.
Rachel worked for OSU Extension in Jackson County for 13 years. She led the OSU Land Steward Program for nine years and developed the Siskiyou Ecoregion Course for the Oregon Master Naturalist program. A longtime member of the Native Plant Society of Oregon (NPSO), Rachel served as president of the Siskiyou Chapter for five years and is now serves on the state board of NPSO.
