Eagle Plein Air Festival
October 3–10, 2026 | Eagle, Idaho

Experience Idaho through the eyes of more than 80 artists during the 12th Annual Eagle Plein Air Festival. For one exciting week, artists will paint outdoors throughout Eagle, Boise and the surrounding Treasure Valley, capturing the beauty and character of Southwest Idaho.

The community is invited to watch artists paint, meet the painters, enjoy free demonstrations and lessons, and experience the excitement of the Quick Draw Challenge in downtown Eagle. Visitors can also explore the Nocturnal Paint Outs and discover artists working in unexpected locations.

The week culminates with an Awards Reception & Art Showcase and the Festival Show & Sale, where visitors can view and purchase original paintings created during the festival.

Whether you're an artist, art lover, collector or simply curious, the Eagle Plein Air Festival is a wonderful way to experience art, adventure and community in Eagle.

State Street Quick Draw

Info: If you think watching paint dry sounds boring, you haven't watched a plein air Quick Draw.

On Saturday, October 3, artists will set up in downtown Eagle for the State Street Quick Draw Challenge. At 10 a.m., the clock starts. Artists have just two hours to create a finished painting outdoors and turn it in by noon.

Suddenly, every minute matters.

Watch artists choose their subjects, establish their compositions, mix colors and race to capture the fleeting light. Then, almost as quickly as the paintings are finished, they go on display and ribbons are awarded.

It’s part art demonstration, part competition and part spectator sport—and one of the festival’s most entertaining ways to see creativity under pressure.

Bring your coffee. Find a spot along State Street. Pick a favorite artist. And watch the blank canvas become a painting before your eyes.

Award Reception

Info: The Awards Reception & Art Showcase takes place Friday evening, October 9, at Finer Frames. Beginning at 6 p.m., visitors can meet artists, see the week's fresh work, celebrate the award winners and purchase original paintings directly from the festival.
