We are very excited to return to the Eagle Festival at Mason Neck State Park again this year! You'll have a chance to meet the Secret Garden's Wildlife Ambassador hawks, owls, and tiny falcon, Pippin, up close and personal, learn about raptors in the wild, the challenges they face and what we can all do to help them thrive in our increasingly human world. You'll even get to take a selfie with your favorite raptor!The festival is filled with exciting exhibitors, vendors, and delicious food. And while we don't have an eagle ambassador - the park has plenty of wild eagles! There are 24 active Bald Eagle nests on Mason Neck with13 of them inside the park and the adjoining Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge.
Another three nests are just across Belmont Bay in the
Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. And there are too many osprey nests to count. So don't forget your camera and binoculars!
This family-friendly event is hosted by Virginia State Parks with support from the Friends of Mason Neck State Park.
