E4 Youth's MLK Act of Service Day
Join us as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy and vision of a beloved community through E4 Youth’s 2 day Service & Learning Project at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, a vibrant part of East Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District.

Guided by Dr. King’s question, “What are you doing for others?” this initiative invites participants to engage in meaningful service, help preserve local history, and enhance this vital cultural space.

Come be a part of this celebration of community, history, and collective action!

Schedule

Day 1: Grounds Improvement
Time: 1 PM - 4 PM
Description: E4 Youth staff members and volunteers will participate in cleaning, organizing, and improving the backyard.

Please confirm your registration to attend! We are looking to serve our community with 60 volunteers.

Day 2: Celebrate Black Austin

Time: 10 AM - 6 PM

Description: E4 Youth is partnering with Third Spaces to honor the history, achievements, labor of Austin’s Black community with a vibrant FREE Block Party Festival featuring:

🎶 DJs and Music

🎓 Higher Education & Career Fair

🍴 Food trucks

🛍️ Vendor Market

🏛️ Free Guided Tours of Historic East Austin

The walking tours will highlight landmarks, street art of historic significance, and amplify the voices and stories of the community.
