About this Event
🦋 💀 DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS: CALAVERAS & BUTTERFLIES 💀 🦋
MAKE • REMEMBER • SHARE • WALK
Join us for a special Día de los Muertos-inspired community art experience centered on creativity, remembrance, and the people we carry with us.
📅 Friday, October 30⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM📍 SuperNova Thrift1852 E. 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90033
Choose your creative experience:
🦋 MAKE A BUTTERFLY — Create a butterfly piñata in honor of someone you love and remember.
💀 MAKE A CALAVERA MASK — Create and decorate a calavera mask inspired by someone you love who has passed.
Participants are invited—but not required—to bring a photograph or small meaningful object that reminds them of the person they are honoring. Use their memory to inspire the colors, patterns, symbols, and stories you bring into your creation.
After making our artwork, we’ll come together for a brief, music-filled procession to Mariachi Plaza. Mask participants will have the opportunity to wear the calavera masks they created as we walk together in remembrance.
During our gathering, participants will have the opportunity to share the name of the person they are honoring and one thing they remember about them—bringing our loved ones into the present through the stories we share.
This is not a religious ceremony. It is a simple, inclusive community act of remembrance inspired by Día de los Muertos—a space to celebrate, remember, and honor the people who have shaped our lives.
