Join us for a community Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) potluck and altar celebration — an evening of remembrance, beauty, and cultural learning led by Monica Muñiz. This gathering offers a meaningful and intimate beginning to Carbondale’s week of Día de los Muertos festivities.You are warmly invited to bring:
• A framed photo or small memento of a deceased loved one for the communal ofrenda (altar)
• A favorite dish to share — especially one that honors someone who has passed
Please drop off photos in advance on Sunday, October 26, or during setup on Friday, October 31 at 1:00 PM. (Late photos are welcome during setup as well.)
Evening Flow
• 5:30 PM — Candle lighting and gathering around the ofrenda
• Followed by — Community potluck meal
• Followed by — Reflection and teaching from Monica Muñiz, with music and shared remembrance
Tear-down volunteers appreciated immediately after the event.
All are welcome — families, elders, neighbors, and those simply curious. This is a heart-centered evening of remembrance and cultural learning.
