About this Event

Early Bird Registration (until May 1, 2026): $290 with promocode EARLYBIRDUK

Course offered for 1.0 ASHA CEUs – 10 contact hours

This two-day course examines the clinical judgment challenges of managing dysphagia in critically ill patients as care settings, priorities, and risks evolve. Through focused didactic instruction paired with case-based discussion, live polling, and interactive workshops, participants will explore how ICU-level acuity, medical complexity, physiologic readiness, patient goals, and risk tolerance shape assessment and treatment decisions across critical care, acute care, and outpatient settings. The emphasis is on clear thinking when answers aren’t obvious—moving beyond protocols to support confident, patient-centered dysphagia management in complex clinical environments.

Saturday registration begins at 7:15am. The course will begin at 7:50am and adjourns at 5pm. There will be a light breakfast and two breaks throughout. Lunch will be provided. Tentative topics include:

  1. Critical Care Dysphagia Starts Before the Bedside Exam
  2. Assessment Without Autopilot: Dysphagia Decision Making in Acute Care
  3. Controversial Topics in Dysphagia Management
  4. Static Plans in Dynamic Patients: Avoiding Transitional Failures

Sunday the course begins at 8:20am. A light breakfast is provided. The course adjourns at 12:00pm with one break. Tenative topics include:
