SWIFT AWARENESS WEEK 2024
Come and meet your local swift colony with an evening walk around the River Mersey, with local conservation group South Manchester Swifts (SMS).
As part of Swift Awareness Week 2024, SMS members Trudy and Alison will lead our group along the river where the swifts commonly feed over the water.
You’ll learn about the lives of these incredible migratory birds who have travelled all the way from Southern Africa to nest right here in our local neighbourhood.

STARTING LOCATION
The meeting point for the walk is the free car park at the end of Ford Lane, Didsbury M20 2RU.
Sat Navs - The postcode will take you to the top of Ford Lane. Continue past the entrance to Didsbury Sports Club until you reach the car park.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Bring binoculars if you have them. We will be walking slowly for around 1.5 hours along a mix of surfaces including unpaved paths.
The walk is free and open to all, but a donation on the day is welcome from those who can spare it.
