Duruflé Requiem: An Afternoon of French Choral Masterpieces

Experience the warmth and beauty of Duruflé’s Requiem, where ancient Gregorian chants create a soothing, meditative musical experience.
About this Event

Note that this concert will be held at St. Barnabas Apostle & Martyr, 70 James Street, Ottawa.

Requiems are often heavy, but Duruflé's take is different. It is built entirely on warmth, comfort, and floating melodies. At the heart of the work are ancient Gregorian chants that have been sung for centuries. Duruflé transforms these simple melodies into something that feels both timeless and surprisingly modern. Sung by ORYC choristers, the music creates a soothing, meditative space to unplug for an afternoon.
