May 18 and May 19 will be Miracle League of the Triangle weekend for Durham Softball!
On Saturday, May 18, we're attempting to recruit 20 Durham Softball players to volunteer at Miracle League games that morning. Players will show up to the field, receive a brief training on how to be ML coaches, and then get partnered up with Miracle League players to help them play their game. It is a 2-3 hour commitment and will be worth every moment, I promise! Our league will add $10 in Miracle League donations for every volunteer that shows up in their softball jersey, so I hope you'll come out!
May 18 is also their season-ending "Dunk Day" and we're setting a goal of $300 in donations to dunk our commissioner, Ryan! Two random volunteers will get a chance to throw a ball, hit a target, and cause Ryan to fall into a tank of water. If we get even more, maybe we can convince our umpire, Danny, to also get dunked! On Sunday, May 19, we'll also be hosting a cash donation drive for Miracle League at the field! My daughters will be setting up their lemonade stand and we're hoping to have a few players from our Miracle League team there to help work the booth. All proceeds will go towards our annual sponsorship of a Miracle League team.
