The Durham Poetry Parlor is a free gathering for poets who want something more than a comment or like or two on social media.

How It Works

Each participant brings a poem they have written.

Poets are paired at random and exchange poems with one another. Participants read each other's work and use guided discussion prompts to explore imagery, voice, structure, meaning, and craft.

The goal is not critique or competition, but conversation. Throughout the afternoon, participants will have opportunities to meet multiple poets, discuss poetry, and learn from one another in a relaxed and supportive environment.
