Join the Dunedin World Car Free Day!
On Saturday, September 19th, Connect Pinellas and Joy Rides Dunedin, in partnership with the City of Dunedin, will host the first-ever Dunedin World Car Free Day, a walk-and-bike celebration of going “car-free” along the Pinellas Trail from 2:15 to 5:45 p.m., starting at Josiah Cephas Weaver Park, located at 1258 Bayshore Blvd, Dunedin, FL 34698.
Registration opens at 2:15 p.m., and City Commissioner Jeff Gow will kick things off at 2:25. At 2:45, attendees will set out on the trail toward Downtown Dunedin, passport in hand.The passport is the game: collect a stamp at each participating business. A completed passport earns an entry in a raffle for special prizes. Stops include Cueni Brewing, where Commissioner Gow will host a Q&A, plus businesses Kafe Racer, Dunedin Mockfusion, and the Bike Lab will all have car-free themed specials. Completed passports are due back at Josiah Cephas Weaver Park by 5:45 p.m.
Need a helmet? The Pinellas County Sheriff's Department will hand out free helmets at the park until 4:00 p.m.
True to the spirit of the day, attendees are encouraged to arrive car-free: bike the Pinellas Trail, catch the Jolley Trolley's Coastal Route to the park, or take the Clearwater Ferry from Downtown Clearwater to the Dunedin Marina - which will offer 50% off fares the day of the event! Tiki Rides will also be participating in the event. Parking is available at the park for anyone who needs it.Dunedin World Car Free Day is part of a global movement to go car-free which you can celebrate with your friends and family.
This event is a reminder that there are plenty of great ways to get around without a car, and that streets with fewer of them are safer and more livable for everyone. Come see Dunedin and support some local businesses along the way.
