Dune Restoration at Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy

We’re excited to invite you to a hands-on habitat restoration event supporting coastal dune ecosystems in Huntington Beach. Together, we’ll help restore this vital habitat by removing invasive plants, brush, weeds, and debris to reveal sandy space for native species to thrive.

This work directly benefits sensitive species that depend on healthy dune systems, including our native salt marsh bird’s beak, Ridgeway’s rail, Belding’s savannah sparrow, California least tern, and western snowy plover.

It’s also a great opportunity to learn about coastal dune ecology, understand the challenges facing our native wildlife, and to positively impact our native flora and fauna.

Where to meet: Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy (HBWC) - 21900 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 (corner of PCH & Newland).

Parking: Available at HBWC headquarters. If you are sent to another site, additional parking instructions will be given on site.

Restrooms: Available at HBWC headquarters; other sites may require a short walk to nearby Huntington State Beach.

What to Bring: Wear layers for varying weather conditions, bring sun protection (e.g., hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.), closed-toed shoes, your preferred snacks, and a refillable water bottle.

Provided by Us: Training, tools, and gloves (feel free to bring your own).

Waivers: All participants need to sign our joint HBWC/OCH Waiver: If you’ve not worked with us in the current year, please complete our waiver form online or be prepared to sign a hard copy at the event.
