Every year Orewa Beach Kindergarten hold a community event called The Ducky Derby which is based in Orewa.
The annual fundraising event, sees 750 plastic ducks overseen by the Orewa Surf Club, race down the Orewa Estuary.
There are great prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the individual Duck race. At the same time, we run the Corporate Duck Race with larger ducks where local businesses and corporate organisations get involved.
It really is an annual event which the whole Hibiscus Coast Community look forward to and get involved in.
Date : Saturday 15th March 2025
Time : 9am to 12pm
Duck Race : 11am
Location : Western Reserve Orewa
(Besides the Orewa Skate Park)
There will be top prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and even a cheeky $100 for the duck that comes in last.
Win or lose, your winning on the day.
We have so many great prizes in silent auction and prizes for the kiddie games.
Not only will the ducks be racing down the estuary but there will be loads of entertainment, games for the kids, food for everyone and performances from the local schools.
