Welcome to Ducal Prize!!
First things first - Pay your site fee, set up your camp and go set up your TAB! The site handout will include a primer on Ducal Prize procedures including competitor auctions and sponsorships, Tab policies, a list of competition descriptions and a schedule. Site entry includes raffle tickets for prizes on display at Ducal Central.
Auctions (Kommissar - TBD) - Saturday will be the food, libations and book auction (plus other goodies as decided by the Display staff). Sunday evening will by the Grand Auction with all the goodies (We know that at least one pavilion has been donated.
Garage sale (Kommissar - Lydia Brittanica) - The garage sale will open at 9 am on Saturday morning and run until the start of the auction on Sunday. Come in and browse, this is a great way to enhance your SCA gear and kit. We like to haggle! Discounts on Sunday will be determined by the amount of items left. The goal is to have as little left as possible. You can wait until the dollar a bag sale but nothing will be held by the staff for you, if you see something you like, make us an offer.
Bardic (Kommissar(s) Leah Raedulf, Ivone Punslayer) - There will be the popular all request bardic on Friday night where you can request a particular bard, a particular song or both. Saturday night will be the themed bardic. The filk competition is Broadway songs, the period competition is sonnets in a style that is not Shakespeare. There is also a toot someone else's horn bardic, which is sing some one else's song. Sunday night may also have a all request bardic after the auction.
Fighting & Rapier (Kommissar - Raven of Drachenheim) - More information to come as to the competitions.
Games (Kommissar - TBD) - More information to follow.
Youth Games (Kommissar - Brenna Bethan) - There will be the traditional scavenger hunt, stick horse races and more. More information to follow.
Quiet games (Kommisar - TBD) - we will have an area set up in the band shell during the day for quiet games such as cards, board games and if anyone wants to run one, a D&D campaign.
Arts and Sciences (Kommissar - TBD) - More information to follow.
Cooking competition - You will be provided the ingredients and limited instructions, much like the Great British Bake off technical challenge. This will be a team event so gather your team now. For possibly purchase, there will be a chance at hints, challenges and advantages that can be purchased by anyone to give to a team of your choice. This will have a required entry fee for teams to cover the cost of the food. There needs to be more than one team competing. Teams will help judge each others entries but we are also looking for volunteers to help judge.
Hospitality- The Caravansari will be hosting a middle eastern hospitality tent on Saturday and Sunday. They will also be hosting the Casbah and Party on Saturday night.
Casbah- The Casbah has been moved to Saturday night to make break down easier on Monday. This will be a grand party and will see the return of the Pasha Hat. The Pasha gets a front row seat to the dancing as well as snacks and beverages. There will be several auctions for Pasha so if at first you don't succeed, bid, bid again. There will also be raffle tickets for a dance belt and there will be tassels that you can purchase to give to your favorite person or keep for yourself.
Donations- We are accepting donations now. Collection points are available upon request. We are looking for a volunteer to be the donation coordinator. There will be opportunities for donations at West-Antir War and Cynaguan July Investiture with Caoilinn Rose Maddox, please contact her at [email protected] ahead of time to be sure we have enough space to bring them home.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the event. We are looking for constables, heralds, marshals, auctioneers and people to help at the sign up tables, plus we are looking for Kommissars for certain activities. Would you like to volunteer to be part of the ducal staff? There are perks such as early entry to the site and the opportunity to be part of the Ducal food plan being run by Viscountess Caoilinn.
