DUBWISE 18 YEARS STRONG! What a journey it's been. From humble beginning's to big nights with Dubstep's finest, we're still here keeping the fire burning! DJ Madd joins us for our anniversary night along with our resident crew illoom, Djunya, Rhizae, and sfL1. Heavyweight sound reinforcement by SubCurrent Sound. Come Meditate on Bassweight!
Tracing back Dubwise's origins in 2006 harkens back to a time when the word Dubstep was an unknown term; Dubstep? well "I like Dub music" was one of the original responses, oh yeah, and what a sample that was in that classic tune! Dubwise's identity ties right back into that with always a focus on Dub and Reggae sounds and who else more appropriate to showcase that style than one of the don's himself, DJ Madd. Not a stranger to rocking Dubwise nights and anniversary nights, we are stoked to bring him back out for this special night!
With an unfortunately abbreviated schedule this Dubwise season, we're glad to be able to put this night together in full flex and fine style. We're pumped for the sound system support from SubCurrent Sound and know that will take the bassweight-stomach rumbling bassface to 11. We're bringing our crew out to provide the opening vibes and set the mood.
Original Dubwise founders Illoom and Djunya need no introduction while newcomers to the Dubwise family Rhizae and sfL1's roots go far back in the Dubstep scene.

DJ Madd Bio:
Hungarian-born Peter Simon has been writing music since his early teens, scoring his first vinyl release in 2008. Highly acclaimed for his WAR series of white label releases, he quickly made the connection between underground bass music and the Jamaican reggae sound. His music has been supported by UK tastemakers such as Toddla T, Mary Anne Hobbs and David Rodigan.
Making the move from Budapest to Bristol, he quickly set foot scoring a guest mix on Skream’s Rinse FM show and multiple spots on high profile compilations such as ‘This is Dubstep’ or the Ministry Of Sound’s ‘The Sound of Dubstep’.
Setting up his own imprint Roots & Future, he continues building up a diverse following who love the old school dubwise sounds with bone-shaking bass and the low end of the sonic spectrum.
After spending time in Tokyo, he is now based in North-America. His main focus is to bring this fusion of reggae music with modern sounds to the next level.
His ‘Rum Punch’ EP on Om Unit’s Cosmic Bridge Records set the tone for future productions, heavy 808’s across genres, which he has continued with releases for Dub-Stuy Records, Zam Zam Sounds, and more.
sfL1 Bio:
sfL1 cut his teeth DJing spinning 45s as a reggae and dub selector in college twenty so years ago. Catching word of an emergent new style called Dubstep in 2006, he first heard the sound by none other than Monkeytek of LoDubs Records in PDX before having the fortune to move to SF in 2007 and become immersed in the blossoming dubstep scene there. Following and making friends with some of SF’s top early Dubstep DJ’s and producers there like Djunya, Roommate, and Antiserum solidified his new home in the realms of low end and as a fixture in those special times at foundational nights like Narco.Hz and Grime City. He moved back to his hometown Boston in 2009 and became a resident at Boston’s original Dubstep party Bassic, started just after Dubwise in 2007. He’s had the privilege to share the decks with some of Dubstep’s finest originators over the years with some top favorites of his including Scuba, L-Wiz, 2562, J-Kenzo, Joe Nice, Kahn, and the Mad Professor. Always a vinyl connoisseur, he’s stayed rooted to his first days DJing as an all-vinyl DJ. With a keen ear for the reggae and dub elements in tunes, expect to hear nothing but top shelf selection from the earliest days of the sound to present continuously searching for those crucial lost classics and the deepest dubwise stylee tracks!
