Anglers are gearing up for the first annual DU Derby, a 72-hour inshore and offshore fishing tournament launching from Ocean City, Maryland, and benefiting Ducks Unlimited. The DU Derby blends serious competition with a strong commitment to conservation, sportsmanship, and community involvement.The Captain's Meeting and Registration will be Thursday, June 4th, from 4pm to 7pm. Captain's Meeting will be at 7pm. This is the first tournament of the season and will take place Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Hosted in partnership with Bahia Marina and Fish Tales, the DU Derby offers competitive divisions for a wide range of anglers while supporting vital conservation efforts. All participating boats must depart from Ocean City, and all fish will be weighed at Bahia Marina, with scales open daily from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Fish may be transported by vehicle to the weigh station, and all recorded weights are final.
Tournament Divisions & Species
Inshore Division: (cannot pass the tip of the south jetty) Rockfish, Bluefish, Flounder.
Offshore Division: Tilefish, Tuna (Bigeye, Yellowfin, Longfin, & Bluefin), Dolphin, Wahoo
The top Junior Anglers (15 years of age and under) of each Division will win a cash prize.
Additional Tournament Details
• Tournament will start Friday, June 5th with lines-in at 7am. Tournament closes on Sunday at 7pm.
• Anglers can enter both inshore and offshore divisions but can only fish one division per day.
• Anglers may weigh up to three fish per day, per division
• Fish must be caught the same day they are weighed
• Tie-breakers will be determined by first fish weighed
• Cash prizes will be awarded, with all decisions final per Tournament Committee rules.
Weigh-Ins: Held daily from 4–7 PM. Stop by to check out the Ducks Unlimited firearm raffle and grab an official tournament T-shirt. There will also be vendor and sponsor tents on-site, so be sure to stop by and check them out.
Early Registration: Opens February 1, 2026. Teams that register early—prior to the Captain’s Meeting on June 4—will be entered to win a $100 Fish Tales gift card. The winner will be announced at the Captain’s Meeting.
