~*~*~*~*~ Artist Information ~*~*~*~*~
Bragolin is a Dutch dark wave/post-punk project led by Edwin van der Velde, known for its
strong melodic hooks present on gothic dance floors worldwide. Drawing from ’80s Bass VI lines, ’60s and ’70s organs, and ’90s shoegaze guitars, Bragolin blends vintage and modern elements into a sound inspired by post-apocalyptic and horror cinema. The project takes its name from Italian painter Giovanni Bragolin, famed for his “Crying Boy” paintings.
The debut album I Saw Nothing Good So I Left (2018) featured the track Into Those Woods, which is now a modern-day dance floor classic. The song surpassed 10 million all-time streams in 2025, establishing Bragolin as a consistent presence within the global dark wave and gothic scene. In 2019, van der Velde collaborated with fellow Dutch artist Adam Tristar on the second album Let Out The Noise Inside, which leaned further into electronic and synth-based production. In 2026, Bragolin released the new album I Don’t Like What It Does To Me, unfolding in gradually revealed chapters. Building on the project’s signature sound, the record combines Bass VI melodies, organ lines, and rich atmospheric production. Field recordings, synthetic ocean textures, water-phones, and experimental sound sources
create a layered, immersive listening experience. The album features Feel This Flame Unfold, a
duet with dark wave artist Carrellee.
In 2020 Edwin Daatselaar joined Bragolin as synth player to form the current live duo. Both
Edwins also play in Zwarte Poëzie. Bragolin has performed over 100 shows at festivals and clubs across Europe and Latin America, including appearances at Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Amphi Festival, and Cold Hearted Festival.
(This is their Minneapolis debut!)
Carrellee is a US (Madison, WI) based ethereal darkwave artist who spent 2024 and 2025
touring Europe and North America as backing vocalist/synth player for IAMX. Her sophomore album released by Germany's Young & Cold Records, mixed by Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, Nuovo Testamento, The Soft Moon) and mastered by Josh Bonati (Slowdive, Drab Majesty) has been described as having an "eerie allure" (Post-Punk.com) and a sound that is "melancholy, wrapped in vibrant electronics" (Destroy//Exist). Her debut Scale of Dreams (Negative Gain) sold out its initial pressing and was quickly repressed by No Coast Records. Her recent output
includes a collaborative single with My Manifesto and a feature on Bragolin's 2026 album. She has performed at Coldwaves, Verboden, Terminus, and Summerfest, and she will co-headline a North American tour with Bragolin in fall 2026 as well as supporting them across Europe.
(We welcome our dear friend back to Minneapolis!)

shadingthesun is a Minneapolis-based dark pop project blending cinematic synths, shoegaze textures, and driving alternative rock into an emotionally charged live show. Drawing from influences like Depeche Mode, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and modern darkwave, the band balances atmosphere with hooks, creating songs that are as danceable as they are cathartic. Fresh off completing their debut full-length with producer William Faith, shadingthesun is bringing a new, heavier set to the stage.
The host, Dead Star Nation, South Minneapolis' premier Indigenous run goth artistic collaboration, led by Ojibwe Darksiders DJ Gwiingwans (Jei Herald-Zamora, LCO Ojibwe & Spirit Lake Dakota) and Coagula (Joseph Allshouse, White Earth Nation). They often focus on curating alternative music events for the public to promote BIPOC, Fem(me), and LBGTQIA2S+ musicians and often open for various shows for touring artists and bands.
While their events cater to all goths, darksiders, punks, and other fans of alternative music, DSN presents an Indigenous lens to experience our shared musical passions. Their current residency at Mortimer's, is focused on Death Rock, Goth Rock, Wave, and Post Punk with different theme nights every month and custom graphics through FCCS (First Church of the Corrupted Signal, also Joseph Allshouse.) While on occasion, Dead Star Nation also books live acts on occasion, but you're more likely to find them collaborating with their local communities. They are also slowly coming back to streaming on Twitch.
DJ Gwiingwans has collaborated with local shows and events such as Windlass, Gothess, and Robot Mobile Disco, as well as guest DJing internationally with World Goth Day, Goths for Sanctuaries, and Reformation Club UK. Coagula creates digital media art through First Church of the Corrupted Signal (FCCS) specialising in VHS glitch art which has been featured in Northern Spark and has produced promotional videos for other goth and darksider events.
They are currently based in Mni Sota Makoċe, the traditional homelands of the Dakota people.
(For a monthly simultaneous stream of our residency, please follow DeadStarNation on Twitch. On Instagram, Google services, and YouTube, we’re working on building on our content, but follow our individual accounts on Instagram & Facebook for updates and notifications.)
