Sprout Society is a nonprofit community hub + DIY space in Bushwick for creativity, community, and care. Drop in, co-work, gather, host, take a class, find your people. Anyone is welcome through our doors, regardless of what they're going through or what they can afford.
About our co-hosts
The Bar Nun Life brings people together through non-alcoholic experiences focused on wellness, art, technology, and vegetarian dining.
Courtney Seyl (they/she) is a playwright, director, and stage manager based in Brooklyn, NY.
- University of Puget Sound BA in theatre arts and English
- residency with ARTBARN in Tacoma
- directing participant in Intiman Emerging Artist’s Program in Seattle
- attended Kennedy Center’s Playwriting Intensive by Gary Garrison in the cohort of the Voices of America writers workshop
- directed “Clean Slate” by Rachel Leighson off-Broadway at The Flea
- stage managed “In the Devil’s Hands” by Helen Banner with Zoopraxis Theatre
- premiered their first full length play REVOLUTION at The Tank Theatre which won the Off-Off-Broadway Award for Best Performance in a play
- their play “Compulsion” came in fourth at the Irondale on Women Festival in the New Media Storytelling Category and was featured in the Shelter ‘n’ Play podcast
