About this Event

Drumcondra Joycean Jaunt 2026

Readings, poetry, songs and stories and most of all, jollification will flavour our Bloomsday jaunt.
Starting at Our Lady’s Park (across from Fagans), we'll stroll to the home of a Sirens' episode barmaid and from there, cross the Tolka whilst keeping an eye out for a heron as we head towards '2 Milchbroke'.

Having doffed our hats there and at Drumcondra Library, we’ll conclude proceedings in the shelter of the quadrangle at the original St. Patrick's College Chapel at DCU (consecrated June 1899).
"They pined in depth of ocean shadow, gold by the beerpull, bronze by maraschino, thoughtful all two. Mina Kennedy, 4 Lismore terrace, Drumcondra with Idolores, a queen, Dolores, silent."
- Episode 11 Sirens, Ulysses
“..When he was twelve
He lived on the riverside
He saw the heron,
legs delicate and long,
Enchanting midstream
In the land of tundish…”
- Lower Drumcondra, Éilís Ní Dhuibhne
Bloomsday Poem 2021, commissioned by the James Joyce Centre
