Drum Power provides drum and dance development/exploration to children and youth focusing on its socio-emotional pillars: discipline, community, and leadership. These life skills are the explicit focus of all the West African Traditional, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian drum and dance lessons and performance, music skill development work, problem solving and practice as individual musicians and members of an ensemble/community.
Since 2001, Drum Power has served more than 5,000 young people in New York City and Madison WI. The group is led and founded by Dr. Yorel Lashley, and also currently led by Tom Ross and performs throughout the Midwest.
Shows are at 1:30 or 3:00 PM. They will last about 40 minutes. Please choose one time to attend. If there is inclement weather, the show will move into the Community Room.
Thank you to the Friends of the Sun Prairie Public Library for your generous support of this program.
All library programs are free and open to the public.
