Let's play together! All you need is a heartbeat to share in this drum playshop. Sundance will teach us basic techniques for hand drumming through traditional drum rhythms of West Africa, Cuba, and Brazil. He will provide drums for those just beginning their relationship to the drum. You do not need any experience drumming, only a desire to listen to your own heartbeat, and share it with your community. Following the drum playshop, we will open the space to a drum circle, where we can play with what we just learned, or free flow to wherever our hands guide us! We will explore the power of coming together to express our true selves through rhythm and sound. We will also share in a potluck and bonfire, so please bring a dish to pass if you plan to stay after the playshop! • 4 pm: doors open to gather • 4:30 pm: drum playshop • 6-8:30 pm: drum circle + potluck Tickets are $30 for the drum playshop, free for children under 8. Please reach out if financial assistance is needed, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. This will be outdoors as long as the weather allows. We have the option to move inside if needed. Please bring something to sit on. Sundance found his path to the drum in 1990 while desiring to give more to his drum circle community. He traveled to Senegal, Guinea, Egypt, Jamaica, and Brazil in search of where this powerful music comes from and the spiritual meanings within these traditions. Sunny found the true magic in the free-form expression of the community drum circle and has facilitated circles around the world at music festivals, in schools, and for business team building events.
