We're hosting a community drum circle on the third Friday of each month at Unity of Roanoke Valley and you're invited!
During the colder months, we’ll be inside in the Sanctuary. Once the weather warms up, we’ll be outside in the Inner Journey bookstore courtyard!
Bring a chair or blanket, a drum or percussion instrument, and a friend!
What is a drum circle? It’s a gathering of individuals who come together to play drums and other percussion instruments in a communal setting. The purpose can range from simple enjoyment and social connection to therapeutic and spiritual experiences. Defining values of a drum circle include equality, autonomy, inclusivity, and freedom of expression. The origins of contemporary drum circles in North America can be traced back to Congo Square in New Orleans, a pivotal site in the history of American music.
