Drop in: Archaeology Object Handling- Create your own News-Scape.
About this Event
Reimagining the Eighteenth-Century News-Scape: Who tells the stories, who owns the news? Today you are the editor.
Join cultural practitioner Dorothy du Boulay and Sarah Wolferstan (UCL Archaeology South-East (ASE)) for an interactive exploration of archaeological objects from ASE’s excavations at Whitechapel, East London.
Learn more about history and objects from Red Lion Playhouse and the White Raven Tavern excavated on the site, many of which are on display in the Patterns Beneath Your Feet exhibition at the Culture Lab.
Create your own literary collage using text from newspapers, flyers, 18th century pamphlets, and excavation reports. Together we'll create a brand-new news-scape, bringing hidden histories to light, sharing a more than human picture of the past.
No prior knowledge or special skills required. Suitable for anyone interested in archaeology, history, storytelling, and the hidden lives behind the historical record.
Free Public Event. All are welcome, including families and students.
Location: Culture Lab, Ground Floor, UCL East, Marshgate building, 7 Sidings Street, Stratford, London, E20 2AE
