Last Mile Food Rescue is non-profit dedicated to ending food insecurity and waste by rescuing excess, desirable food for those who need it most. In 2025 alone, they served over 4 million meals to those in need.
Last Mile Food Rescue was started in 2020, but the backing from current & previous corporate executives will ensure this organization is around for a long time. They interact with the community in three key ways:
• Food Agencies: The mission is to connect excess food with agencies that can distribute it.
• Food Markets: Through Last Mile Market we distribute fresh, rescued food for free to communities with limited access to healthy options. Each month, the Market serves over 1,800 shoppers in Avondale, Price Hill and the Villages of Roll Hill.
• Repack Program: Imagine trays of pulled pork from a stadium after a game, mashed potatoes from a local hospital or chicken from a school cafeteria. Last Mile On the Go partners with Easterseals Redwood to repackage large trays into smaller grab-and-go containers.
60% of food-insecure households report barriers to cooking meals at home, including a lack of kitchen access, time, or resources: 175,479 pounds of prepared food rescued and repackaged in 2025.
