Először Magyarországon a Drink The Sea – világhírű zenészek új szupercsapata
érkezik Budapestre
2026. október 27-én először lép fel Magyarországon a Drink The Sea, az alternatív
rock, a világzene és a kortárs dalszerzés kiemelkedő alakjaiból álló nemzetközi
szupercsapat. A zenekar a budapesti Akvárium Klub KisHall színpadán mutatkozik
be a hazai közönségnek.
A Drink The Sea tagjai olyan zenészek, akik az elmúlt évtizedekben meghatározó szerepet
játszottak a nemzetközi zenei életben. A formációban együtt játszik Peter Buck, az R.E.M.
legendás alapító gitárosa és dalszerzője; Duke Garwood, a brit énekes-dalszerző és
gitárművész; Alain Johannes, az Eleven alapítója, producer és multiinstrumentalista, aki
többek között Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey és a Queens Of The Stone Age munkatársaként vált
ismertté; Barrett Martin, a Screaming Trees és a Mad Season egykori dobosa, Grammy-
díjas producer; valamint Lisette Garcia, a nemzetközileg elismert mexikói–amerikai
ütőhangszeres művész.
A zenekar története 2022-ben kezdődött, amikor Alain Johannes és Barrett Martin közös
improvizációi új kreatív irányt nyitottak számukra. Az ezt követő években a tagok a világ
különböző pontjain – Washington államtól Izlandon és Brazílián át Chiléig – dolgoztak
együtt, és két olyan albumot készítettek, amelyek szó szerint kontinenseken átívelő
alkotói folyamat eredményei. A dupla album 2025-ben jelent meg, így koncertjeiken a
legaktuálisabb dalaikat hallhatja a közönség.
A Drink The Sea zenéje a klasszikus gitár–basszusgitár–dob felállást ötvözi gazdag
világzenei hatásokkal. A dalokban az alternatív rock és az énekes-dalszerzői
hagyományok mellett olyan hangszerek is megszólalnak, mint az arab oud, az indiai szitár,
az indonéz gamelán, valamint különféle egzotikus ütőhangszerek. A végeredmény
egyszerre atmoszférikus, kísérletező és mélyen dallamközpontú.
A zenekar neve egy Duke Garwood által írt dalszövegrészletből származik, zenéjük pedig
a tagok több évtizedes tapasztalatának és páratlan zenei hátterének lenyomata. A Drink
The Sea budapesti koncertje különleges alkalom lesz arra, hogy a magyar közönség
először élőben találkozhasson ezzel az egyedülálló formációval.

For the first time in Hungary: Drink The Sea – a new supergroup of world-renowned
musicians comes to Budapest.
On October 27, 2026, Drink The Sea, an international supergroup featuring some of
the most distinguished figures in alternative rock, world music, and contemporary
songwriting, will perform in Hungary for the very first time. The band will make its
Hungarian debut at the Akvárium Klub's KisHall in Budapest.
The members of Drink The Sea are musicians who have played defining roles in the
international music scene over the past decades. The lineup brings together Peter Buck,
legendary founding guitarist and songwriter of R.E.M.; British singer-songwriter and
guitarist Duke Garwood; Alain Johannes, founder of Eleven, acclaimed producer and
multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Chris Cornell, PJ Harvey, and Queens Of
The Stone Age; Barrett Martin, former drummer of Screaming Trees and Mad Season, as
well as a Grammy Award-winning producer; and Lisette Garcia, the internationally
acclaimed Mexican-American percussionist.
The story of Drink The Sea began in 2022, when a series of improvisational sessions
between Alain Johannes and Barrett Martin opened up a new creative direction for both
musicians. In the years that followed, the band members collaborated from different
parts of the world—from Washington State to Iceland, Brazil, and Chile—creating two
albums that are literally the result of a creative process spanning continents. The double
album was released in 2025, and audiences can expect to hear the band's latest material
performed live.
Drink The Sea's music combines the classic guitar-bass-drums format with rich
influences from world music traditions. Alongside alternative rock and singer-songwriter
sensibilities, their songs feature instruments such as the Arabic oud, the Indian sitar,
Indonesian gamelan, and a wide variety of exotic percussion instruments. The result is a
sound that is atmospheric, adventurous, and deeply melodic.
The band's name originates from a lyric written by Duke Garwood, while their music
reflects the collective experience and extraordinary musical backgrounds of its members.
