About this Event

Bird in Hand is thrilled to present an evening of conversation on the history of American theater, led by Drew Lichtenberg Artistic Producer/Resident Dramaturg at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., and centered around his new book Shakespeare in the Theatre. This new volume is a behind-the-scenes account of the premier classical theatre company in the U.S., and its evolution against the changing social and economic landscape of Washington, D.C. James Magruder, author of the recent The Play's the Thing: Fifty Years of Yale Repertory Theater (1966-2016), will join Lichtenberg in conversation.
