About this Event
This special showcase features winning and standout pieces from ASM's annual Agar Art Contest, in which scientists and artists craft beautiful images from microbes "painted" onto agar — a gelatin-like medium used to grow microorganisms. The event is free and open to all who are curious about the intersection of science, art, and communication.
Beyond the artwork, join a panel of scientists, artists and science journalists for a candid conversation about communicating science clearly and responsibly across diverse mediums — from visual storytelling and creative expression to navigating misinformation, media dynamics, and building public trust in evidence-based research.
What to expect:
🧫A microbial art exhibition: explore contest-winning pieces up close.
🎙️A panel discussion with science and communications experts.
🍷Complimentary drinks and light bites.
Whether you're a scientist, a science enthusiast, or just curious about what living microbes can create, we'd love for you to join us.
