A seasonal series of drawing workshops at Out of the Blue Drill Hall, Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh, EH6 8RG.

6 workshops, each 2 and a half hours
Thursday 17th September to Thursday 22nd October

These workshops will guide you through a variety of different drawing techniques, in pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastel, pen, printmaking, ink, gouache, and watercolour. Suitable for beginners and more experienced artists alike, you'll be introduced to a variety of mark-making techniques in a fun and pressure-free environment. We will explore artistic representations of Autumn across cultures and throughout history, and how they might influence your work.

Class sizes are small to ensure you get a personalised experience.

Each workshop will have a different Autumn-based theme and will use different materials. Each workshop will be a stand-alone event and will assume no prior knowledge or experience.

There is zero pressure in these workshops, and the main objective is to have fun.

With any art materials, there is always a risk of getting marks on your clothes, so please don’t wear your best crisp white shirt or anything you would be upset to get dirty.

Thursday 17th September: Form and shape, pencils and charcoal
Thursday 24th September: Light and dark, inks, pens and chalk
Thursday 1st October: Colour, printmaking
Thursday 8th October: Observation and composition, pastels and coloured pencils
Thursday 15th October: Self expression, watercolours, gouache
Thursday 22nd October: Bringing skills together to realise an artwork, mixed media.
