Explore the expressive possibilities of graphite through observational drawing studies focused on form, texture, shading, and value. In this six-week class, students will work primarily with graphite pencils while developing techniques for rendering still life objects, creating depth, and improving hand-eye coordination through careful observation.Students will learn how to build gradual value transitions, observe light and shadow, and strengthen their ability to translate three-dimensional forms onto paper. Emphasis is placed on slowing down, studying relationships within a subject, and developing patience and confidence through drawing.
