Art is a tool that changes how children see themselves. Each young artist will name a problem, and then draw themselves as the hero that can fix it. To demonstrate, Gene will ask the class to pick a problem and for ideas about how that hero solves the problem.
Gene Ha is the writer and artist of the graphic novel 𝘔𝘢𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 from Oni Press. He has won five Eisners, the highest award in American comics, for his art on titles like 𝘞𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘢: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘴 with writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, and 𝘛𝘰𝘱 10 with writer Alan Moore. Registration fee includes materials for art project that participants will take home, plus admission to the Alex Ross: Heroes and Villains ticketed exhibition.
