About this Event
You don’t need to be an artist to create a print to be proud of. This immersive four week course gives you hands on access to a working print studio, guiding you through the full lino printing process from design to finished prints.
Across four sessions, you’ll draw, carve, refine and print your own lino blocks, developing confidence through hands on practice each week. Within a small group and with two expert tutors, you’ll have time using tools and individual guidance in a real working studio, allowing you to properly understand the process rather than just trying it once.
Dates and Times: 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th April, 7-9pm
Your ticket cost covers all four sessions.
Week 1: Designing and Cutting Your First Block
An introduction to lino printing, looking at examples of different print styles before designing and cutting your first block. You’ll begin printing in the studio straight away, focusing on mark making and confidence with the tools.
Week 2: Developing Your Design
You’ll now create and refine a block, learning how small changes affect the final image. You’ll continue proofing and refining your design in the studio to develop a more personal approach.
Week 3: More Proofing and Printing
This session focuses on proofing, adjustment and print quality. You’ll explore how to improve consistency, experiment with variations, and understand the relationship between block, ink and press.
Week 4: Finishing and Taking Work Further
In the final session, you’ll produce finished prints and look at how to take the process beyond the course. You’ll leave with a completed edition and a strong grounding in lino printing techniques.
Throughout the course, you’ll be supported by two experienced printmakers with contrasting styles, allowing you to see different approaches and receive a high level of individual guidance.
