In August Draken Ash Moot will host guest speaker Jay Anderson with a talk titled
"Beyond the Witch Father: The High Priestesses Who Built the Craft."
Jay is a historian, a member of multiple occult groups, a gardnerian High Priestess, member of interfaith, pagan chaplain, a book lover and a cat mum.
Gerald Gardner is often named as the founder of Gardnerian Wicca – but traditions do not survive on founders alone. This talk explores the High Priestesses initiated by Gardner who went on to establish the lineages that continue the Craft today. By examining their roles as initiators, teachers and lineage holders, we look beyond the figure of the ‘Witch Father’ to the women whose authority, labour and leadership ensured the survival and transmission of Gardnerian Wicca. This is a talk about lineage, power and the hands through which the Craft was truly built.
