Dragon Boating - Come & Try - Veterans and Family members
About this Event
Looking for a new way to stay active, connect with others and have some fun on the water? Join us in Mandurah for a Dragon Boat Come & Try Day designed especially for current/former serving veterans, reservists and their families.
Dragon boating is one of the world's fastest-growing team sports, combining teamwork, fitness and camaraderie in a fun and supportive environment. With up to 20 paddlers working together in a single boat, it's an exciting experience that quickly builds confidence, connection and a sense of achievement.
No experience is necessary. Friendly club members and experienced paddlers will guide you through the basics, including safety, paddle technique and boat commands before heading out onto the water. Whether you're looking to try something new, improve your wellbeing, meet like-minded people or simply enjoy a morning outdoors, everyone is welcome.
Suitable for ages 10+, with no upper age limit. Paddles are provided and personal flotation devices can be supplied if required.
What to Expect
- Introduction to dragon boating and equipment
- Safety briefing and paddle technique
- On-water paddling experience
- Opportunity to paddle, race and work as a team
- Light refreshments and social connection
Indicative Program
8:00 am – Arrival, introductions, safety briefing and equipment familiarisation
8:30 am – Learn basic paddle techniques and take to the water
9:00 am – Snack break and social catch-up
9:30 am – More paddling, teamwork exercises and friendly races
10:00 am – Wash down equipment and wrap up
