Dragon Boat Race 2024 - Volunteering Opportunities - Forget Me Not

Can you help support on the day of our flagship event.

We are looking for volunteer support to help with a variety of roles at our Dragon Boat Race event.

Event: Dragon Boat Race

Venue: Pugneys Country Park, Asdale Road, Denby Dale Road. Wakefield. WF2 7EQ

Date: Saturday 21st September2024

Times: 8am - 5pm (timings of each role will vary)

Roles: bucket collecting volunteer or stall volunteer.

Role information

Bucket collecting volunteer - To assist by bucket collecting at the event, to walk around the event with a purple bucket taking donation. This could be walking around the event area, near the entrance to car park or by supporting our mascot.

Stall volunteer - To assist with selling branded merchandise, raffle tickets or supporting our face painter, to take payments by cash and card. To ensure the stalls are manned at all times.

Frequently asked questions -

Can I volunteer for more than one role throughout the day?

Yes, if you would like to volunteer for multiple roles please email events@forgetmenotchild in order for the event manager to ensure the multiple roles can be worked alongside each other with timings and logistics of the park.

I would like to volunteer, however I will struggle to get childcare, can my child volunteer as well?

This will depend on the child's age.

Anyone 14 or above can volunteer as long as we have consent from a parent or guardian. If you would like to volunteer and bring your children (under 14 years old) along with you, they cannot register as a volunteer and will not be given a volunteer role, they can attend with you, however, they are your sole responsibility, please consider whether you can fulfill the volunteer role as well as look after the child. If you are unsure and want to discuss please contact us.

I am unable to stand for long periods of time, is there a role I can support with?

There might be measures we can put in place in order for you to be able to support still, please contact us to discuss which role might be suitable.
