Draglore Workshop: Performing Folklore for Liberation

Welcome to Draglore, where folklore and drag combine to connect us to a vast cultural tapestry spanning hundreds of years. This is the workshop edition of our monthly Draglore event! This event takes you deeper into your folklore learning, with a few performance examples provided by Aras Arcadia interspersed throughout the presentation.
This workshop was originally presented at Basic Rights Oregon's Statewide Action summit this year, and has now been expanded with more detail for a longer time slot. We will focus on folklore as it relates to class, gender, and queerness, and in the process learn how to perform folklore in service of social change in our society. At the end, there will be time for questions and for viewing the folklore books that I will bring in as examples.
The house will open at 4:30pm, with the workshop starting at 5pm. The audience can expect to sit in chairs around tables during the performance, in a temperature-controlled room. There is a large and free parking lot available to park in, and the building is wheelchair accessible. Tickets are donation-based, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Payment is accepted at the door via cash or cashapp, and all profits are divided evenly amongst the cast and crew. We do not sell food or drinks in-house, but there is a fantastic bar across the street, Chan's Steakery, where audience members can pre- or post-game.
This is an all ages event! Performers who attend this workshop will be prioritized for a casting spot in future shows-- make sure you come introduce yourself!
