Drag Queen Karaoke – a fundraiser for Playlabs will kick-off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. Your $20 admission gets you an evening full of the baddest renditions of the best songs. There will be drinks and snacks! There will be a 50/50 raffle, prizes and gift baskets to bid on. We have three of Detroit’s biggest and best drag queens, Jewel Jubilee, Rose Ritz and Jah Jah Shee bringing their talents to emcee the event. All we need is you and friends to come out for a fantastic fundraising night.
Playlabs are after school programs nurture literacy in all four of the major disciplines; ELA, History and Social Studies, Math, and Science. 73% of participants actively engaged in creative drama and reading programs report increased reading levels, better comprehension of written test scenarios, and more active attendance and participation. (DuPont, 1992.) Our programs specifically prove to increase student engagement and we retain 85% of participants, while our programs fill to waitlists every semester.
