Dr. Sketchy's Baltimore: Life Drawing + Circus Arts feat. The Juggling Kat

A livelier life drawing event, Dr. Sketchy’s is where artists of all levels draw fabulous burlesque and variety performers. Enjoy delicious cocktails and compete in zany drawing contests to win free drinks and other awesome prizes! We’ll start off with quick 1- and 2-minute gesture poses and gradually move up to 20-minute sketches. No drawing experience is necessary; just bring your own drawing materials—plus generous cash tips for our model—and join us for some fun figure sketching practice!

We're back at Mobtown Ballroom with a fabulously talented performer, The Juggling Kat! Get to know your April muse:

"Juggling star Kathryn Carr (a.k.a. The Juggling Kat) has been entertaining crowds in the DMV for over 15 years. This amazingly skilled juggler is one of only 5 women to win the Individuals Stage Competition in the 75-year history of the International Juggler’s Association! Kat’s recent work has been inspired by 1940’s juggling icons like Trixie LaRue and Lottie Brunn. Her style combines elements of vaudeville and cabaret with a creative modern flare. Kat’s specialty acts showcase both traditional and unique juggling props including clubs, hats, flowers, feathers, jump rope and a big ball that she bounces on her head. A valued member of her local juggling community, Kat has headlined and taught at many regional juggling conventions around the United States. Come early to get the best seats and a drink—and even a delicious dinner—then stay after we wrap up to share your work with fellow artists over one last drink at the bar.

Doors at 6:00 pm, drawing from 7-10 pm. 18+ to draw, 21+ to drink. $15 in advance, $18 at the door, plus service fees for online and in-person credit card transactions. BYO drawing supplies. No photography, messy paints, or dip pens, please (watercolors are fine).
