The Sterling Heights Ethnic Community Committee invites the community to join them for their second annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Walk on Monday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.The event will include opening remarks from guest speaker Bishop James Williams, a reading from poet Zig Zag Claybourne, light refreshments and a short walk through the community, beginning and ending at City Hall. For the safety of all participants, the walk may be shortened depending on weather and temperature conditions.
Those who wish to participate in the ceremony only are welcome to join at 10:30 a.m. in Council Chambers inside City Hall, accessible through the north entrance off Utica Road. Nonperishable food donations will also be collected in honor of Dr. King’s commitment to community service, with all donations benefiting the Macomb County Community Food Bank.
All residents are invited to join us for this special commemorative walk. This event is free to attend!
