DC DPW’s Special Waste Collection Event, scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026, will be held at RFK Stadium's Parking Lot 8.

To help attendees navigate to Lot 8, accessible off of Independence Ave SE, the GPS coordinates to the entrance are 38.888049, -76.971237.

Join the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) Special Waste Collection Events to:

  • Safely dispose of your household hazardous waste,
  • Recycle your old electronics, and
  • Securely shred your sensitive personal documents.

DPW now requires registration to participate in the Special Waste Collection Events to ensure everyone is accommodated safely and in a timely manner.

Sign up below for a 30-minute arrival period. You may arrive at any time during this period.

Your arrival period is not a reservation. If there is a line upon arrival, please join it, and DPW will work to process everyone as quickly as possible.

Only one ticket is required per vehicle. Please do not order multiple tickets. While queuing may begin prior to the event, materials will not be accepted before 10:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m.

Open to DC residents only. Please bring proof of residency (e.g., a driver's license, utility bill, or lease agreement) and your Eventbrite registration. Have your ID and registration ready upon arrival. A DC resident must be present in every vehicle that arrives. Vehicles without a DC resident present will be directed to the exit.

Absolutely no commercial waste is allowed.

Safety Tips
  • Have your ID and Eventbrite registration ready upon arrival.
  • Join the line when you arrive and remain in your vehicle at all times
  • Remove personal items from your trunk when dropping off special waste.
  • Follow the instructions from all event staff.
  • Put away electronic devices to avoid distractions while driving.
  • If you have corrosive materials to dispose of, ensure they are securely closed to prevent leakage. If needed, thoroughly tape the lids with duct tape to keep the materials enclosed in their bottles.

  • Plan ahead.
  • Dispose of your waste properly.
  • Be considerate of others.
