The Duncan Public Library in partnership with the Friends of the Library will host IT WAS THE 90s: a series of book events centered around four amazing books presented by four local scholars as they take you through the 90s at your favorite local library! These four novels are award winning, and we feel like they are representative of important literary events and trends in the 1990s. December's book is Holes by Louis Sachar.Stanley Yelnats is under a curse. A curse that began with no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather and has since followed generations of Yelnatses. Now Stanley has been unjustly sent to a boys' detention center, Camp Green Lake, where the boys build character by spending all day, every day, digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. It doesn't take long for Stanley to realize that Camp Green Lake isn't what it seems. What could be buried under a dried-up lake?
