CLIFF ELLIS AND THE RIVERSWAMPERS
Hall of Fame basketball coach Cliff Ellis and the RiverSwampers will be appearing at the downtown Music Hall in Fort Walton Beach on November 14 from 7-9pm. Doors will open at 6pm. Cliff Ellis is back to his roots as a musician where he was the lead singer of the Villagers. He recorded with Fame Recording Studio and ATCO Records and was involved withhits in the 60’s, such as Laugh It Off, Where Have You Been, and Thank You Baby. Ellis left his music career after graduating from Florida State and became a Hall of Fame Basketball coachat Auburn, Clemson, south Alabama, Coastal Carolina, and Cumberland. He actually started his coaching career in Niceville at Ruckel Junior High School.
The RiverSwampers are made up of talented musicians. Joseph Retherford, keyboard player, has played with the Neville Brothers. Jesse Roberts, lead guitarist, has performed on the Grand Ole Opry. Kirk and AJ Thompson, bass player and drummer, also perform gospel music. Gene Woodham, rhythm guitarist, and Greg Rane, vocals, were part of the band Sweet Water Junction The music will be a throwback to the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Cliff, who has been onstage with the Four Stops, Temptations, Delbert McClinton, Charlie Rich, Irma Thomas, Steve Cropper, will include songs he has recorded.
