Join us for a week of art, food, ecology and education as we paint the town... literally.In partnership with Pleasant Peninsula Mural Fest out of Grand Rapids, the Downtown Development Authority and community partners, we bring you Ironwood's first-ever downtown mural festival.
Three large-scale, permanent murals about the ecology of our area will be painted during the first week of September. Each mural will focus around a different species important to our area and the artists will be partnered with expert educators on the topics.
FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION & SCHEDULE

Tuesday, Sept 2nd:
● 5pm-6pm: Wildflower walk @ Miner's Memorial Park
Botanist Ian Shackleford will share wildflower and other plant education on this all ages walk through Miner's Park.
● 6pm-7pm: Mural Fest Welcome Party @ Downtown Bodega:
Meet and greet with the artists, organizers and partners of the Mural Fest. All are welcome! Open games, music, nature trivia and more!

Nature trivia begins!

●2-4pm: Kids nature art activity @ Contrast Coffee
● 6pm-7pm: Porcupine Mountains Talk: Ecology & Old Growth @ Cold Iron Brewing.
Friday, Sept 5th:
● First Friday Festivities @ Downtown Ironwood:
● 3-6pm: Complimentary Wine, tea & treats tasting @ Northwind Co-op.
● 4-7pm: First Friday Farmer's & Artisans Market @ City Square
Tie Die making Fun with Fire N Dyes @ Farmer's Market
$15 for all supplies and instructions, includes gloves.
$10 BYO item to tie dye, includes all other supplies and instruction.
**BYO items will need to be cotton. (Bamboo, viscose, elastine, linen, hemp) Price may increase depending on material.
*Dye is permanent and the process is often messy, so wear something you don't mind getting stained."

● 5:30-7pm: Live Music @ City Square
Saturday, Sept 6th:
● 1:30-3:30pm: Wood working class with Saint Mauds
Wood working and intro Forest products. Gain knowledge about locally harvested wood and how this plays into our local ecology while woodworking. All ages welcome!
● 4-7pm: Educational speaker series- Artist & Educator talk about artwork and species AND Farmed and Foraged Food Tour:
The Grand Finale event!
A walking food tour of our three murals. Our artists and educator partners will discuss the murals depicted and why the species represented are important to our area.
Our partner downtown restaurants will be offering paid small bites of their locally farmed and foraged culinary creations on this walking tour.
