Killed by the same abusive partner

Fiona and Naomi were killed by the same violent partner - Carl Cooper - even though the police had been made aware of his violence. Fiona was killed while Cooper was on bail for the M**der of Naomi. Delays by police in taking the family’s concerns seriously mean that Fiona’s body has never been found.

Serious police failures

Both deaths were preventable. The Metropolitan Police knew about the serious risks Cooper posed to both women who were extremely vulnerable but repeatedly failed to take effective action. At least 10 officers are now being investigated by the Independent Office for Police Misconduct.

This case represents the latest in a long history of failures in policing of violence against women as highlighted by the deaths of Sarah Everard, Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman.

This Campaign

The families of Naomi and Fiona are asking us all to come together to ensure that the police are held accountable for their failures and that nothing like this ever happens again. As friends, as neighbours, as concerned citizens, as campaigners for women’s rights and against racism, we need to support their fight for justice.

Public Meeting

Please come to the public meeting to learn more about the campaign and to show your support. This struggle is not only for Naomi and Fiona; it is for all women harmed by male violence and by the very system that is meant to protect them.
