This face-to-face event is for expectant parents keen to attend both the Breastfeeding and the Early Days workshops in one single day. The first session will run from 10:00h until 12:00h, there will be an hour-long break for lunch, then the second session will run from 13:00h until 15:00h. For more information about each session, please read below:
BREASTFEEDING WORKSHOP:
This FACE-TO-FACE Breastfeeding Workshop focuses on preparing you to breastfeed your new baby.
It will be run by one of the members of our Infant Feeding Team. They will talk you through the benefits and practicalities of breastfeeding your new baby. The aim of this workshop is to help you feel more confident about breastfeeding and help you understand how to prevent and solve common breastfeeding difficulties, how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk, and where to get help if you need it. We recommend taking this class from about 28 weeks onwards.
The session is fully interactive and you will be able to ask questions and have an opportunity to chat with other expectant parents.
EARLY DAYS WORKSHOP:
This FACE-TO-FACE Early Days Workshop focuses on all the practicalities of having a new baby; we encourage both the birthing parent and their significant other to attend (if possible). You are welcome to attend at any stage of your pregnancy to help you prepare for your baby’s arrival. At the start of the session, please let us know if there is a particular topic you would like information or guidance on. The usual topics of discussion are:
- Meeting your baby and caring for them in hospital
- Normal newborn behaviour (and who to contact if you are concerned)
- Sleep (baby’s and yours) and safety around sleeping environments
- Car seats
- Bathing and skin care
- Nappies
- Visitors and support from friends and family
Due to limited spaces, we ask that only those who are booked to have their baby at West Middlesex University Hospital or Chelsea & Westminster Hospital attend these sessions. If you are unable to make your session, please reschedule as soon as you can. If you are bringing a partner, parent or friend who will be supporting you after the birth, please ensure you have booked a place for them too. You will need to bring your notes in order to attend the session.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU AGREE TO "FOLLOW" THIS EVENT, AS THIS WILL ENSURE THAT FOLLOW-UP EMAILS (WHICH WILL CONTAIN FURTHER COMMUNICATION ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND ANY VENUE CHANGES) DO NOT GET LOST IN YOUR JUNK MAIL.
