Held in conjunction with FX Harsono's solo exhibition "Keeping the Dream", this talk brings together the artist and curator John Z.W. Tung for a conversation exploring the intersection of archival materials and contemporary art. The discussion will focus on how archives inspire and inform artistic practices and the significance of archival research in understanding historical narratives.

This panel discussion examines how curators and museum workers engage with photographs that deal with contested histories, particularly histories of colonial exploitation and exoticisation. What do we do with such images in the archive / museum collection? How have artists used these images in their work? How do we guide audiences to navigate these discomforting histories and images?
