DOT ART- Tealight with Lina West

This is a project class, which means we focus on one piece from start to finish. We are dotting on a 4 inch charred ash wood tealight holder. The charring gives the surface a texture and depth that is unlike anything else I have worked on, and when you place a lit tealight inside at the end of the day, the whole thing comes alive. It is one of those finished results that genuinely surprises people.
All levels are welcome. If you have dotted before you will find the surface interesting and the format satisfying. If this is your first time, I will walk you through everything and we go at whatever pace works for you. All tools and paints are provided, there is nothing to bring.
We go for about 2 hours and there is no rushing. Tea and chocolate tastings run throughout the afternoon, because a good creative session deserves both.
A little bit about the piece itself: I was born in Ukraine and have lived in the US for many years. I have always stayed close to the makers and artists back home, and these tealight holders came out of one of those collaborations, with a Ukrainian woodmaker whose craft I genuinely admire. I use them for my own dot art projects and bringing them into this class felt like a natural next step. Every piece you work on here has a bit of that story in it.
