Doomsday 2025, our 24-hour nonstop livestreamed reaadathon of the works of Edgar Allan Poe is coming May 17-18, hosted this year with the help of Poe's Magic Theatre in the Lord Baltimore Hotel. Help us spread literacy with the language of Poe.
From a basement in 2022, Doomsday is now a Baltimore tradition, supporting our mission to produce Poe-themed live radio dramas, stage plays, and other arts events in Baltimore and beyond.
Last year, dozens of actors, authors, and community leaders gathered at Baltimore's Carroll Mansion for The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre's 24-hour marathon reading of Poe's best-loved poems and stories, with participants from the UK, Italy, and Brazil!
This year, May 17-18, we're back with national participants in Maryland, Tennessee, and Ohio, and across the globe in Brazil, Italy, England and Scotland -- and the list keeps growing.

How Doomsday 2025 helps us AND you:
Now more than ever, your donation matters. Every dollar contributes to our programs:
• Radio drama adaptations of Poe's stories performed live at Baltimore's Enoch Pratt Free Library
• Poe Theatre's radio dramas airing LIVE on WYPR Sunday Night Radio Theater
• Poe Theatre and local schools teaming up on college and adult education programs
• Poe Theatre commissioning new scripted adaptations of Poe's stories to improve the lives of local, national and international audience members
• A live stage production of "A Christmas Carol for Edgar Allan Poe" at the holiday season in Baltimore, December 2025
• And much more!
Our mission is to bring Poe’s works to life through the arts in Baltimore and beyond. But we can’t do it without financial support. So we're asking you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us bring the works of Edgar Allan Poe to the people of Baltimore. Donations of all sizes are appreciated!
Here’s what your dollars can do:
$250 – print programs
$500 – help commission the development of a new script
$1,800 – pay a sound designer for their work on an audio drama episode
$8,500 – produce an audio drama episode
$20,000 – produce our next stage production
Please consider becoming a donor, sponsor, reader or volunteer. Thanks!
